People on Vox creep me out. Maybe I'm just used to the crazy people on LiveJournal, but the people on Vox are waaaaay too happy.
So I'm wondering if it's a function of design – a psychological element that's affecting a user's subconcious.
On LiveJournal, we give you the means to write about what ever you want. There's a certain anonymity when you post on LiveJournal. Profile pages are optional and often vague. The only clue into a person's age, name, gender, or any other identifiable information is through the context of their journal which is often times restricted entirely by privacy restrictions. It's common practice on social networking sites to have a picture of yourself somewhere. Not so on LiveJournal (though I cringe at the idea of seeing some of the people who use it).
Posts on LiveJournal are raw, unfiltered, and uninhibited. You see all walks of life (and some you didn't know existed).
So which one is better? Probably neither. Vox laughs at LiveJournal with it's UI, but LiveJournal kicks it in the nuts with it's diverse community. Now it's just a matter of what they can learn from each other. Vox is concentrating on improving its community and LiveJournal is working on improving its UI.On Vox, you see basically the same subset of features as you do on LiveJournal, the difference being Vox's mantra of being easy and simple to use. The UI is clean and colorful, layouts are cheerful and cute and there's a lot of hand holding on Vox to lead users into the community and all of it's features.
Vox works a little something like this: Vox is happy. Vox asks you happy questions. You write happy answers. Happy answers show up on [This is Good]. You read [This is Good]. You are happy. Vox is happy. It's a vicious cycle.
But in the end, there really won't be a clear winner. LiveJournal will continue to cater to the perverse walks of life and Vox will continue to bring blogging to the masses. It's kind of like wanting icecream, but having a preference for either chocolate or vanilla.
ZOMG!

Remember taking hearing tests in grade school? How well can hear now?
The human hearing range is 20Hz to 20,000Hz. A person's hearing range degrades over time depending on age and sound abuse. So the younger or healthier your hearing is, the more you can hear. In general, your hearing starts to degrade in your 20's. Highschoolers have figured out that if they make their cellphone ringtone in the 18,000Hz range, their teachers can't hear it. Brilliant.
Let's see how well you stack up. I've made a series of audio files comprised of different frequencies. If you can hear the tone then pat yourself on the back. Put on some good headphones, turn the volume about half way up and play the audio files and figure out what your hearing range is.
Edit: I give up. I hate rich text editors, give me html editting plz, Vox. I'll be your best friend.

Do you have any tattoos? If not, if you were going to get inked, what would you get?
I have a tattoo of a power button on the back of my neck. I've had it for about 2 years now, I got it when a friend told me I should get a tattoo of a power button, the next day I was walking by a tattoo shop and figured, "What the hell". And that's the story about how I got my tattoo.
I would like to get a few more on my arms, probably this year if I save enough money. I want one over each shoulder and bicep depicting my skin tearing away revealing circuits underneath. You know, kind of half tron, half battle damage-ish.
I'm visiting my dad for Christmas this year, it should be interesting seeing his side of the family. I haven't seen them since I was 16 so I'll be sure to look as crazy as possible.
